Seahawk Apparel, part of the family-owned Scott Group, has adapted its operations to manufacture personal protective equipment for NHS staff.

With an experienced in-house team of 25 including designers, pattern cutters and sewing machinists, Seahawk was quickly able to identify its potential to manufacture essential frontline protective garments.

This expertise facilitated the adaptation of existing patterns to produce hospital scrubs as well as creating a bespoke design for a reusable hospital barrier gown, both of which have been made available to the NHS.

The production of a non-medical, reusable barrier mask to support social distancing measures is also proving popular. Rob Sayles, Managing Director of Scott Group, explains:

“Since the Scottish Government indicated that non-medical masks had a role to play in helping prevent the spread of Coronavirus, we’ve seen demand for our bespoke mask grow. To date, we’ve supplied over 70,000 masks, as buyers are choosing to support UK manufacturing by sourcing locally.”
