Score Europe celebrates 30 years of business in Fife and unveils new test facility in Cowdenbeath

News Release

It was a double cause for celebration today as Score Europe celebrated 30 years of business in Fife and also unveiled an extensive upgrade of its specialist valve test facility in Cowdenbeath.

The facility was first established in Fife in 1984 and offers leading edge testing of valves and pressure vessels for a number of companies in the oil, gas, petrochemical, defense and food industries. It now employs over 50 staff and serves customers both locally and worldwide. The company also offers a range of highly acclaimed modern apprenticeships in engineering, with the opportunity to specialise.

Ian Farrow, General Manager at Score Europe said: “Our specialist test facility at Cowdenbeath is one of the most advanced of its kind in the UK. As well as increasing our capabilities and allowing us to strategically position ourselves to meet the future needs and requirements of the industry, the new upgrades will also provide our customers with increased flexibility and reduced costs.

“We also continue to grow and develop our own skilled personnel to meet the challenges ahead and aim to employ a further five engineering apprentices this year in addition to strengthening our compliment of engineering, quality and administration staff.”

Visiting the plant to help celebrate the 30 year anniversary Councillor Lesley Laird, Depute council leader and spokesperson for Economy and Planning said:

“It was a pleasure to go along to Score Europe’s open day and meet with staff who are enthusiastic ambassadors for their company. Children from the local schools had also taken advantage of the open day to visit and see their STEM subjects come to life – perhaps future recruits for the company.

It was also great to hear of Score Europe’s continued investment in Fife. The new facility upgrades at Cowdenbeath greatly compliment the investment made in a new logistics and distribution centre in Glenrothes last year and Fife Council and the Invest in Fife team will continue to work with the company to help achieve its growth ambitions.”
