Progress on £1.3bn wind farm off East Neuk

Phase Two of the proposed Neart na Gaoithe wind farm off Fife Ness has started with the siting of high-tech wind measuring equipment.

Developer Mainstream Renewable Power has deployed the FLiDAR, which is like a floating mini meteorological centre, about 21km off the Fife coast. The technology is designed to capture valuable wind data in the harshest conditions and will remain on site for up to 12 months.

The state-of-the-art measurement equipment is powered by its own renewable energy system comprising solar photovoltaic and wind power technology.
