A T.R.E.E.-mendous asset for everyone

A building with a vision for the future.

Fife’s growing reputation as Scotland’s eco-friendly region has been strengthened with the opening of the Tullis Russell Environmental Education Centre (T.R.E.E.).

Civic leaders, councillors and community groups gathered at the new million-pound centre in Markinch, which now occupies the site of the paper mill’s former social club.

The state-of-the-art centre, which has been hailed as a blueprint for how environmentally-friendly buildings of the future should be constructed, is the result of a four year project.

Developed in close partnership with the Community Councils of North Glenrothes, Markinch, Finglassie, Stenton and Pitteuchar, the Centre’s vision to deliver a lasting legacy to the local area emerged at the time of Tullis Russell’s 200 year anniversary in 2009.
