£875K ERDF funding for Fife

Fife Council’s Development Services recently received over £875,000 of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) awards to help progress two of its main projects in the renewable industry sector.

The projects which made successful bids for the funding were: “Fife Renewables Business Innovation and Incubation Hub”, receiving £125,337 and “Fife Renewable Hub Capital”, receiving £750,000. Together, the projects will develop an innovation and incubation centre at Methil Docks Business Park which will offer business services and commercial premises to young businesses starting out in the renewable energy sector. The 1400 sq m building will be carbon neutral and will support up to 100 enterprises. The project is also expected to create 90 new jobs in Fife.

Councillor Tony Martin, Strategic Chair of the Council’s Environment, Enterprise & Transportation Committee, said: “This is fantastic news for Fife and will provide a huge boost to the local economy. Renewable energy technologies can offer a large number of business opportunities as the industry continues to grow, and with excellent facilities such as Energy Park Fife and the Hydrogen Office on our doorstep, we are confident that Fife can continue to play a key role in Scotland’s renewable energy sector. This European Development funding will ensure the success of these important projects and will help put Fife on the map as a great place to invest and do business.”
