Isleburn is a major fabricator of topsides and subsea pipework and structures within the Oil & Gas and other energy industries. We also operate in the mechanical design, manufacture and installation of various pressure vessels, storage vessels, silos, site storage tanks, pre-assembled units, steel structures, skid units, heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, columns and pipework systems. Special skills: Maintaining Isleburn’s position as the largest manufacturer in the UK subsea sector demands a level of competence from all personnel that ensures we consistently deliver to what is a very demanding market.Our ability to deliver is enhanced by, and benefits from, our workforce’s multi-skilled capabilities in structural fabrication, pipe work, instrumentation, mechanical and electrical engineering.The majority of subsea projects involve varying levels of structural fabrication – from 10 tonne skid unit frames up to 400 tonne subsea manifolds. With in-house blast and paint capability, Isleburn are well placed to manage and deliver the sizeable projects that combines integrated structural, piping and coating scopes. The size, locations and load out capability of our facilities provide capacity to build modules up to 10,000 tonne.Process pipe work in the subsea sector is designed to extremely high specifications – making Isleburn experts in fabricating pipe components of ranging materials.On a day-to-day basis, we weld carbon, duplex, super duplex, stainless steel and inconel clad pipe work. Isleburn also have internal resource, capability and competency to perform pressure testing using our own in-house equipment.With remote or automated control capability standard in many of our projects, we have developed an excellent capability in small bore welding and instrumentation work. Such capability enhances our ability to timely deliver the more complex subsea projects.
Isleburn has assembled, erected and loaded out two of the world’s largest wind turbines for the Beatrice offshore wind demonstrator project off the east coast of Scotland.
Oil and gas
Isleburn has manufactured small, medium and large scale equipment for various clients and tailored requirements. Examples include BP Andrew Towheads, Petrofac West Don Midwater Arches, Shell Shearwater Compression Module
The drive to increase renewable energy generation has seen us become a manufacturer of choice for companies developing offshore renewables devices.
We have led the field in this sector, building a number of wave and tidal generation devices and also assembling and erecting some of the world’s largest offshore wind turbines.
We played a key role in the fabrication and assembly of Atlantis Resources Corporation’s prototype AK1000™, the largest and most powerful tidal power turbine built to date.
In 2010 we also completed work on the PowerBuoy prototype wave energy converter, built for Ocean Power Technologies. The device was fabricated in four sections at our Nigg facility.
Other successful renewables projects include fabrication of the first Oyster wave energy device for Aquamarine Power and a tidal prototype for OpenHydro. We also assembled, erected and loaded out two of the world’s largest wind turbines for the Beatrice offshore wind demonstrator project off the east coast of Scotland.
Our facilities include large-scale fabrication and assembly capacity at Nigg yard, on the Cromarty Firth, which has been identified as one of the key sites in the Scottish Government’s National Renewable Infrastructure Plan (NRIP). Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond, described Nigg as the “best deep-water site in Europe.”
