Construction of Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm project to go ahead following financial agreements

Construction of the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm is now underway following confirmation from EDF Renewables that financial close for the project has been achieved. Twenty-five (25) financial institutions are lending money to fund the wind farm which will supply enough low carbon electricity for around 375,000 homes*.

NnG has a capacity of c. 450 megawatts (MW) of low carbon energy and will offset over 400,000 tonnes of Co2 emissions each year. Construction of components is now underway, offshore construction will start in June 2020 and full commissioning will complete in 2023.

The Offshore Wind Sector has the potential to bring significant business opportunities to companies in our area and we want to ensure that they are able to capitalise on them.

To ensure that we are able to identify the current and potential offshore wind supply chain companies and their capabilities, we are asking you to complete this survey, by identifying what services you currently offer in other sectors that you believe could be transferred into offshore wind now, services which could be adapted for the offshore wind sector with appropriate support and services which you aspire to offer the sector in the future.
