Construction of Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm project to go ahead following financial agreements

Construction of the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm is now underway following confirmation from EDF Renewables that financial close for the project has been achieved. Twenty-five (25) financial institutions are lending money to fund the wind farm which will supply enough low carbon electricity for around 375,000 homes*.

NnG has a capacity of c. 450 megawatts (MW) of low carbon energy and will offset over 400,000 tonnes of Co2 emissions each year. Construction of components is now underway, offshore construction will start in June 2020 and full commissioning will complete in 2023.

Success at All-Energy in Glasgow

BUSINESSES in the Kingdom got the chance to attend the UK’s largest renewable energy event recently as members of Fife Council’s Market Development Programme.

Nine Fife companies joined the council’s Economic Development team at All-Energy in Glasgow.

Hydrosphere, Ductform Ventilation, Briggs Marine, Fife College, Green Business Fife and Burntisland Fabrications were joined by CCD Marine, Clean Power Solutions and IT Managed Experts who were attending for the first time.

The two day event showcased Fife’s manufacturing and engineering expertise to a world-wide audience and delegates were able to identify new and exciting opportunities in the renewable energy market and build new contacts as well as hear from experts in the renewables field.
