Tayport business plans huge expansion after securing £500,000 funding

Tayport-based food processing equipment maker Foodmek is activating a growth plan after securing £500,000 funding from the Scottish Loan Scheme (SLS), part of the Scottish Government’s Scottish Growth Scheme.

The manufacturer of food processing equipment and access platforms to some of the largest food producers in the UK and beyond aims to use the loan from the SLS, which is administered by the Scottish Investment Bank, the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise, to double its turnover and increase its workforce significantly.

Foodmek: Year of Young People


To celebrate 2018 as the year of young people, Foodmek recently worked alongside local photographer and filmmaker, Dylan Drummond, to develop a short film. The film follows the journey of Jade Anderson, from welding apprentice to time-served and integral member of the Foodmek team.

A trio of Fife food company workers have been congratulated for notching up 125 years’ service.

Three employees of Foodmek, which designs, manufactures and installs processing machinery for the global food and drinks industry, have worked for the Tayport company for over 40 years.
