BiFab wins £100 M contract protecting 200 Jobs

Burntisland Fabrications Ltd has been awarded the contract to supply WTG jacket substructures for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Development.

This latest award is for the manufacture of 26 offshore jacket substructures for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Development in the “Outer” Moray Firth on the North Western point of the Smith Bank, approximately 13 km off the Caithness coastline. The development site will cover an approximate area of up to 130km and will consist of 84 WTG Jacket Substructures for turbines with a projected total capacity 588 MW.

Premier Oil said it was now poised to begin the commissioning and hook-up programme for the Solan project’s subsea storage tank, jacket and topsides complex.

Two 8,500-tonne platform jackets left BiFab’s fabrication yard in Methil early last month, while the heavy engineering firm also produced the main, 3,500- tonne accommodation and operational block as part of a £147m contract which has brought 350 jobs to Fife.
